Hi, For mr system I am using the Turnigy Monster-2000 200A 4-12S Brushless ES, the TGY AerodriveXp SK Series 63-74 170Kv / 3250 and the Turnigy Servo Tester. I have problems with the precise control of the RPM its jump as example from 320 to 390 RPM and not as I need by steps of 1 RPM to 321 have you an idea? Thanks

How can I setup this ESC properly with programming card to drive Turnigy 80-100-130kv motor? I'm going to use 36v or 48v lead acid battery. Is there anyone who use this ESC with 48v? Please remind me if there are something I need to be careful. Thanks.
   rkey13 (89%)
I would not recommend using a 48 volt lead acid battery because when fully charged the battery will actually be as high as 51 volts becasue the voltage of a fully charged lead acid cell is slightly above 2.1 volts. This ESC cuts out if the input voltage is above 51 volts to protect itself. Becasue you are running so close to the max voltage (just like the people using 12s li-po batteries) you may blow some or all of the FETs in the ESC. It should work but I would not recommend it as it will have a far shorter life than if you ran it at 36 volts. You could try running 42 volts (36 volt battery a 6 volt battery) and this would get you almost the same performance but be slightly safer (as long as the current isn't too high) However if it is possible to take off the heat sink to look at the FETs after you receive it you could look at the data sheet and see if they are rated for over 51 volts. Often high current FETs are only rated for very low voltages.

The programming card didn't work with mine... Did the setup via rx. The setup is quite easy so no problem there. After 6 flights (12 cells life and 140A max) the controller stopped working. The fet's break in 2 after a while?!

is there anybody who use this monster with a servo tester to drive HK 80-100-170KV motor? three of them retired at the moment, one of them hasnot worked even 1 second.
   Beuhji (48%)
Yes i've used two of them with modified servo tester (to work with 5kohm throttle) to drive a 80-100-b 130kV : twice has burned ! Replaced by a Castle creation HV160 ICE, work great on a electrical vehicle ... Don't try to work with it anymore, HV160 costs two time the monster price but it work fine and has a great tuning and datalogging software !
   Benny (75%)
I had the same thing. Tried one monster2000. After six flights (80-85B motor). Bought HV160 ICE from Castle creation. Works great now. Don't waste money on this esc...

Can I use this ESC with lead batteries?
If I can't, should I use only Li-poly battery for this? I will use this ESC with Turnigy 130kv 6500watt motor.
   tomapowa (88%)
Yes, you can use with any type of DC power source (up to 51 or so volts)
   BertKu (67%)
Hi Jaewoo, I was also looking at the monster2000 for my 2 brushless C80100-130 , 6Kw motors. However, 4 SLAB's means 55 Volt when fully charged. It may be too much for the MOSFets used in this monster2000. I will use 3 x 12 Volt and 1 x 6 Volt slabs in the beginning, just to be save.

WHY did all 3 of my 2000 monster esc burn after just seconds in use in about 100A use i 3 different planes with turnigy motors?
I am satisfayed with all the other things from
HK ,but i think the Monster esc`\s is useless!!!!!

Wow, three?? My first one ***fed too.. little scary.. sent it back, still being looked at buy supplier (4mo now..). I bought another one (just had to finish project) and it is working great in a big boat also did fine on a 50mph blade scooter project. I wonder if your timing was set right for the motor? think default is low.. I've had bad luck testing hi power esc's with servo testers too. Better luck next time bro, sure hope they take care of us...
   Kyle (56%)
Same here my first one fried. Worked perfect at 36V and swapped to 48V and ***f, smoke everywhere.

Item arrived completely dead! I waited two and half months for this. I have no other ESC to use, and this season will soon be over.
   Martin (84%)
Mine is working so far!
Test runs and all. 120mm EDF *12S Lipo current 110A.
Only thing is it gets fast hot like all others also do (YGE, Schulze) at this power level :D

Hi guys, I have one more Question.

What kind of Capacitors are used on this ESC? V? uF? manufacrer?, i can just see there is 5 of them on ESC. ThanX.
   tomapowa (88%)
470uf 63V
One of my caps actually broke free from the PCB during shipping. HK needs to do a better packing job on these... I will be testing in a couple of days and will post a review... I did already program it though using the prog. card (which should be included!... rather than an option).
   zeeek1 (53%)
Capacitors need better soldering, ***r Tulip shaped solder joins. I must redo them before testing.

Hi guys, I have one Question.Do you think that is possible to use this one solo ESC with 2 motors plug on it? It will be same motors but can happen that one of them is for short time underd more load. It means it will change RPMs. And i have no Idea if it really has any influence for ESC or motors. Can some who knows help me out? ThanX for help.
   Benjamin (73%)
this is defenetly not working! Every motor needs a regulation for its own!
   Benjamin (73%)
this is defenetly not working! Every motor needs a regulation for its own!Dont test it!! It will not work and the controller can be damaged.
   Fahrenheit-145 (87%)
NO this is a BL-ESC you cannot put there 2 Motors without destroy the ESC!!!This is not a Brushed!!
The Problem is that the ESC must know how the Rotor stands(position)if there are 2 Motors what is the right position??
on some Controllers you can make it but not to 100% there are some rules...See CastleCreations

They are all too busy flying, perhaps.
   Olin (71%)
i tested this with a 7000 watt motor at 48v. Crazy!!! The esc is huge and heavy. It has heat sinks on both sides. The down side is they usualy ship with the capasitors broken off and need to be re-soldered

is it possible to use this ESC with a 1/8 scale monster truck?
   Jason5001 (4%)
I think it might be too large, and there is no reverse.

Can this ESC be used with a pistolgrip radio?
   Jason5001 (4%)
Any radio will work.
I would not use this in a car, it's too large.
   thomatrix (100%)
I have ordered one to test in a HPI Baja 5B SS Brushless. I will post a review when I get to test it. It will take a while though.
   zeeek1 (53%)
Yes Pistol Grip works but I had to adjust the Sub trim of my 3PM Futaba throttle to 100%+
After that BADA BING, throttle calibration works great. Great for boats if you know how to waterproof them like I do!!!!

Hello, is it possible to get a manual for the ESC and programming card online? Can you remove the heat sink to replace it with a self made water cooling?
   JPDX10 (80%)
Yes, the Turnigy ESCs have programing cards online. HK has really good prices.
You could remove the heat off the esc to make it water cooled. Turnigy has a 180A esc that is water cooled, but not an HV. The higher end escs' usually have a pretty big heatsink but converting it to water cooled is very possible.
   zeeek1 (53%)
You cannot remove top heat sink as it has the control board locking it down, soldred to the main FET board below.
I wanted to look at the FETs but, not worth it.

Just run tubes in the spaces and waterproof for boat.

12 cell is HV isn't it?

My blade scooter does 55mph/7sec, I'm 245lbs. Batt's in my packpack. Takes me 12miles, up/down hills to work looking the foo tho. Helmet and pads required, couple wipeouts. Thanks Hobby City!! *).
   JPDX10 (80%)
Do you have a video of the scooter doing 55mph? Is it a stand up scooter? I am currently building a stand up scooter w/HV esc. I should get my shipment in soon.
   alexautom8s (75%)
I had converted a Blade Pro, standup. Had to go to 8ga wire. Was just awsome for a while there, should have left it alone..

I was starting to test it in my 58" boat when I saw your reply.

Was getting it wired up with the Turnigy 80-100-B 130Kv Brushless Outrunner again and when I tried it out it fried... I may have goofed programming it?... I was trying to run it with a servo tester and I think the timing was off. Went up in smoke... Very very sad... I might just have to get another. Be careful, ensure you have it programmed correctly for the motor you are using.. Pretty sure it was my fault.

i built a skateboard that does 40mph, 24v 14amp batterys, 150amp lv speed control and turnergys 7000w motor. its insane. can only imagine what it would do with a hv 200amp speed control. right now it only draws 2500w from the motor!!

I'm not gonna lie, those exposed capacitors are kinda making me nervous. I would definitely put some shrink wrap over those if i was to buy.
   Olin (71%)
The caps stick up 1/2" above the heat sink so use caution when handling/mounting. mine came shipped with some of the caps in the bag and one with a loose solder joint. Check your esc and make sure they pushed the heat sink down all the way. The top heat sink is loose! Half the resistors arnt in contact with the heatsink. You need to heat the solder joints up and pinch everything tite. On the positive side the esc is insane, lots of power!!!

simple question, what does ubec means? if it means that there is no bec, I would like to know why generally speaking big ESCs don't have bec?

oops sorry Glen, I replied to you instead of submit a new question...

LARGE ESC = LARGE MODEL = LARGE SERVOS. I own several large electric models and always use a 10 - 15 amp separate voltage regulator (with its own 2S lipo) as the combined servo load can be quite high. Also, I dont fancy doing RC system testing and range checks with a 'live' motor!

Please HC dont remove this speed cont.of your ofer like u did with K-force,I bet its awesome and the price is AMAZEING.We dont wanna buy other expensive ESC double even triple the price but same quality.
I have order 2 of your 85Amps and planing to buy this one in a close future for my Edge 540 2m.
Just per say,now you even got the batteries for this monster,Zippy 40c with higher Ah(only 10-15%higher cost than regular)so in a purchase one product will follow the other.
Thx HC.
   JPDX10 (80%)
Large escs' don't have a BEC because the BEC draws power from the esc. Also if you are running alot of servos, a BEC from an ESC might not have enough amps. So it is best to use a BEC eliminator.
